Hiroko Atherton

Hiroko leads the firm’s legal function; overseeing all firm legal matters, providing advice on governance and risk relating to fund due diligence, and offering client advisory support on strategic funds matters. Hiroko brings her deep experience as a private equity funds lawyer to bear on the firm’s investment decisions, and sits on the firm’s Board as well as its Executive, Risk and Investment Committees. Before joining CapGen in 2013, Hiroko practised as an investment funds solicitor in the City for over 9 years at Proskauer Rose and Travers Smith. During her time in private practice, Hiroko acted for institutional investors into private equity, hedge and other alternative funds, direct co-investments and secondary transactions. She also acted for fund managers on the structuring and raising of private investment funds. Hiroko has a first class honours degree from King’s College London in Music, a postgraduate diploma in Law and qualified in 2006 as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
